EFSE Development Facility

The EFSE Development Facility is an innovative and unique feature that operates in tandem with the Fund. It complements the European Fund for Southeast Europe with non-financial services – such as technical assistance, consulting and training – tailored to the specific needs of EFSE’s partner lending institutions to help them strengthen their internal capacities and operations.

The aim of the EFSE Development Facility is to enhance the long-term development impact of EFSE’s investments and increasing the outreach of the partner lending institutions towards the Fund’s target groups: micro and small enterprises and low-income private households that would otherwise have no access to financial services. From a larger macroeconomic point of view, the EFSE Development Facility helps strengthen local economies in Southeast Europe, and enhances the region's financial sectors.

Activities range from responsible finance projects to comprehensive institution building projects and small-scale training sponsorships.

The EFSE Development Facility also sponsors workshops and roundtables on relevant topics, research projects and studies, as well as EFSE’s Annual Development Impact Study which analyses different aspects of the Fund’s development impact.

Mission

The EFSE Development Facility aims to strengthen the internal capacities of the European Fund for Southeast Europe’s partner lending institutions to increase the outreach to the final target group, including micro and small enterprises and low-income private households.
