Responsible finance conference, Belgrade, Serbia

Belgrade, Serbia, October 2007 - While access to loans and other financial products enables clients to take advantage of opportunities, the access also imposes numerous risks for borrowers. Unreasonable costs and over-indebtedness are typical risk examples.

Against this backdrop, EFSE initiated a panel discussion event titled "Responsible Finance in Serbia", hosted by the National Bank of Serbia in October 2007. More than 80 financial sector representatives and practitioners from Serbia and the region attended the event. The focus of the event was a panel discussion comprising presentations and debates; financial sector experts highlighted different roles and dimensions of consumer protection in the financial services industry. Similar initiatives will be also organised in other countries of EFSE's target region.
