The provision of technical assistance and capacity building services is based on the following concept:

• individually-tailored technical assistance relating to the key needs and processes of the partner institutions to have the highest possible impact,
• technical assistance organised in short-term and intensive intervals to give local institutions time to absorb and implement input,
• comprehensive support through a combination of consulting, training and coaching activities,
• close cooperation with partner institutions, especially regarding the joint development of terms of reference and consultant/trainer selection to support the development of local know-how,
• cost-sharing with partner institutions to ensure their commitment and full participation and to reduce costs.

EFSE funds and the technical assistance provided by the Development Facility work hand-in-hand to further strengthen the partner lending institutions. In the end, it is a very straightforward and effective way to provide financial services to low-income entrepreneurs and individuals.
