Capacity building for Syrian entrepreneurs in Mersin, Turkey
TARGET GROUP: Syrian entrepreneurs in Mersin, a city in the Southeast region of Turkey
OBJECTIVE: Increase the potential of Syrian-run businesses in Mersin to become prosperous and financially integrated through the provision of tailored capacity building support based on the detailed assessment of the challenges faced and success factors that drive refugee entrepreneurship in the city.
ACTIVITIES AND RESULTS: The EFSE DF project for capacity building for Syrian entrepreneurs in the city of Mersin in the Southeast region of Turkey seeks to increase their capacity to grow their business and access financial services. TEPAV, the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey, began with a research phase to understand the challenges and opportunities faced by Syrian-owned companies in relation to scaling up their businesses and expanding their access to finance. Based on the research results, the consultant will develop tailored capacity building programs to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of refugee-driven companies and their level of financial literacy and understanding of banking products. The final step of the project is the delivery of the designed programmes to the Syrian companies.
