Feasibility study on implementing an agricultural loan evaluation system in Georgia
TARGET GROUP: Various partner institutions, farmers, and agribusiness in Georgia
OBJECTIVE: Identify possibilities to support sustainable growth of the agricultural sector and increase access to finance among farmers and other agribusinesses in Georgia through the incorporation of the Agricultural Loan Evaluation System (ALES).
ACTIVITIES AND RESULTS: The project consisted of a feasibility study aimed at building a solid understanding of the agricultural sector in Georgia, a study tour to Turkey for 19 Georgian financial institution participants to see how ALES works for banks on daily basis, and a suggestion for a suitable implementation concept for ALES in Georgia by conducting focus group discussions and interviews with financial institutions and other sector stakeholders.
