Support the development of a national strategy for financial education
TARGET GROUP: Private households and small business
OBJECTIVE: Support the National Bank of Moldova’s development of a national strategy for financial education and improved financial inclusion in Moldova.
ACTIVITIES AND RESULTS: The EFSE DF supported National Bank of Moldova’s development of a national strategy for financial education. Through targeted initiatives, programmes, and campaigns it is equipping Moldovan citizens with the knowledge and understanding of financial terms and concepts to promote responsible financial behaviour and encourage greater trust in the financial sector, thus contributing to the sector’s overall stability.
The project is taking a joined-up approach, learning the lessons of other national programmes which that which have shown that the high number of stakeholders and their differing objectives need to be carefully managed. The strategy is being agreed on and implemented with different government and non-government stakeholders to reach the target groups.
The target groups are private households and smaller businesses that are usually not sufficiently well-served or experienced in financial transactions with financial institutions. In addition, special emphasis is being given to early education targeting youth and children, and users and beneficiaries of financial transactions such as the elderly population, low income households, or remittance recipients that may face additional hurdles.
