Information for Investors
Approach
The EFSE operates through partner lending institutions in Southeast Europe and in the European Eastern Neighbourhood region. They on-lend funds received from the EFSE to the ultimate target group of micro and small enterprises and low-income households.
General funding
The European Fund for Southeast Europe is a public-private partnership in the truest sense of the term: The EFSE is replenished with funds from various donor agencies and European governments, international financial institutions, as well as by private investors.
Funding from investors
The EFSE offers attractive investment opportunities to institutional investors who seek attractive and reliable financial returns from investments with a demonstrated social impact. The EFSE is clearly focused on supporting micro and small enterprises and low-income households, and has a social responsibility orientation.
Investments
Rather than lending directly lend to its target group, i.e. micro and small enterprises and low-income households, the EFSE instead provides long-term funding to qualified local financial institutions for onward lending in the form of business loans to micro and small enterprises and home improvement loans to low-income households.
