EFSE DF workshop "Agricultural Finance – How to Make it Work”

On 10 December 2014 the Development Facility of the European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE DF) hosted a workshop on "Agricultural Finance – How to Make it Work” in Prishtina, Kosovo.

The purpose of the workshop was to explore the possibilities for actionable measures based on the insights gained from the "Agricultural finance in Kosovo – potential and challenges” study recently conducted on behalf of the EFSE DF. The study examined the structure and main supply and demand characteristics of financial services for the agricultural sector in Kosovo. The study also pointed to possibilities for the financial sector of more effectively leveraging the high potential of agriculture. The research findings were presented and distributed among participants at the outset of the workshop.

More than 40 participants from banks and microfinance institutions in Kosovo involved or interested in agricultural finance attended the workshop. The presentation of the study’s findings and recommendations, which was accompanied by lively discussion, was followed by a training session on practical aspects and techniques of providing credits to agricultural businesses. The participants particularly appreciated this unique hands-on seminar.

Both the study and the workshop presentation are available in English and Albanian and can be downloaded below.
