EFSE Annual Meeting 2012

During recent history, the EFSE’s target region has been facing unprecedented complexity and velocity of change. In this rapidly transforming world, EFSE in its function as market-enabler and incubator of financial innovation seeks to redefine its development agenda in a collaborative effort together with its stakeholders, public and private. In this context, the EFSE Annual Meeting 2012 under the motto “Sustainability and Stability in a Transforming World: The Evolving Development Finance Agenda” provided a platform for exchange and debate through panel discussions and workshops to ensure that the EFSE continues to create value added for all its partners.

More than 300 local delegates and international experts from 30 countries attended this year’s EFSE Annual Meeting, co-hosted by the National Bank of Georgia.

As a special participant, the Green for Growth Fund, Southeast Europe (GGF) hosted a panel discussion on energy efficiency and renewable energy finance in addition to a series of technical workshops on the topic.

The Annual Meeting was opened by Prime Minister of the Republic of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, together with Philip Mikos, Head of Unit in charge of the Regional Programmes for the Neighbourhood East Region, European Commission, Dirk Niebel, Minister, German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and Giorgi Kadagidze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia.

The EFSE Annual Meeting was preceded by a meeting of its Advisory Group. The EFSE Advisory Group is comprised of the Governors and senior executives of the central banks of the Fund’s target region. The Advisory Group provides the EFSE with better linkages to local markets, shares local experiences and formulates recommendations to the Board of Directors with regard to the Fund’s strategy and operations.

The EFSE Annual Meeting is held each year in a different country in the EFSE’s target regions to promote dialogue and cooperation across country borders as well as stimulate the debate on cutting-edge topics in development finance among the Fund’s stakeholders.
