Mostar, 16 September 2026 – The European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) is building on its longstanding partnership with ProCredit Bank Ukraine through a new EUR 10 million facility equivalent in Ukrainian Hryvnia. The financing is designed to expand access to finance for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), with a particular focus on agribusinesses affected by the disruption of Ukraine’s seaborne export channels.

The new facility further strengthens a partnership that dates back to 2015. Over the course of this cooperation, EFSE has provided nearly EUR 140 million in financing to ProCredit Bank Ukraine, helping expand access to finance for Ukrainian MSMEs and supporting more than 35,000 jobs across the country.

The local currency financing will help businesses continue investing despite an operating environment marked by uncertainty and disruption. By providing longer-term funding in local currency, the facility aims to support enterprises seeking to modernize operations, strengthen resilience, and pursue growth opportunities while navigating the challenges created by the ongoing war. Particular emphasis will be placed on helping agricultural businesses, which continue to face significant constraints linked to export disruptions and changing market conditions.

The facility is expected to be complemented by a dedicated grant program for selected MSMEs. The combined financing and grant support are designed to improve access to finance for war-affected businesses, including newly established and relocated enterprises, helping them overcome investment barriers and continue contributing to Ukraine’s economic recovery.

"Over the past decade, Ukrainian entrepreneurs have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to adapt, innovate, and persevere in exceptionally challenging circumstances. Access to reliable long-term local currency financing remains essential for businesses seeking to invest in their future rather than simply maintain operations. Through our continued partnership with ProCredit Bank Ukraine, we are helping MSMEs strengthen their competitiveness, continue investing, and contribute to the recovery and resilience of Ukraine’s economy," stressed Jasminka Berget, Portfolio Manager of EFSE at Finance in Motion

Member of the Management Board of ProCredit Bank Ukraine, Аnna Savenya, commented: “For several years now, Ukrainian businesses have been operating in an environment of constant challenges, yet we see that many entrepreneurs are not putting their development plans on hold. They have continued to invest in modernization, energy efficiency, production expansion, and entering new markets. Economic recovery begins with the decisions made by individual entrepreneurs. Through our partnership with EFSE, we are able to provide businesses with access to financing, and this cooperation helps companies recover, implement investment projects, and continue growing today.”

The new agreement reflects EFSE’s continued commitment to supporting Ukraine’s private sector through long-term financing and complementary support mechanisms. By combining local currency lending with targeted grant resources, the partnership seeks to help businesses invest, adapt, and remain economically active despite ongoing challenges.
